Day 2 Arusha-Tarangire (BLD)
The morning is at leisure.

Have a Safari briefing and lunch at the hotel and meet your private driver-guide.

Then depart to Tarangire National Park. As you make your way out of Arusha, you leave the busy city behind, and the landscape gives way to vast plains dotted with grass thatched huts. It will be common to see young children tending to herds of cattle and sheep. In the distance, the imposing wall of the Great Rift Valley rises from the horizon.

September 13 - 14

Day 3 Tarangire-Manyara (BLD)
Enjoy a game drive in Tarangire National Park this morning.

Thanks to the Tarangire River (which runs through the park), Tarangire is a haven for wildlife and you might find high concentrations of plains game like Thomson's gazelle, buffalo, eland, hartebeest, impala, waterbuck and much more. There are 8 distinct zones in Tarangire, from seasonal swamps to open plains and acacia woodland. Look (and listen) for the spotted hyena whose distinctive "whoop" is often heard through the still of the night. Thanks to the plentiful supply of food, predators like lion, leopard and cheetah are well represented in Tarangire. More than 300 species of birds have been recorded in Tarangire, so keep your eyes peeled for the bateleur eagle, ground hornbill and abundant species of bee-eaters and rollers.

Return to the lodge and then depart for Lake Manyara.

Day 5 Serengeti (BLD)
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti. Game viewing in the Serengeti is never disappointing, as the park has one of the highest concentrations of game in Tanzania. Plains game like Coke's hartebeest, Thomson's gazelle and Grant's gazelle are plentiful. So too are buffalo and wildebeests. Wildebeests sometimes bear the brunt of jokes because of their "funny looking" appearance. Some say the wildebeest was made of spare parts. But it has adapted well to the environment and the sheer number of wildebeests on the plains will amaze you.

September 16 - 18

Day 6 Serengeti-Ngorongoro (BLD)
Taking a picnic lunch, game view your way out of the Serengeti and into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

You travel along the rim of the crater and descend to the village of Karatu arriving at your lodge for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 7 Ngorongoro (BLD)
Taking a picnic lunch, spend the full day game viewing on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater.

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers more than 8,200 square kilometers which includes the Serengeti plains and Ngorongoro Crater. It was established in 1959 and was designated a World Heritage Site in 1979. The purpose of the NCA is to promote the peaceful co-existence of humans and wildlife in a natural and traditional setting and is the only site in the world that has achieved a high concentration of wildlife living in harmony with human communities.

The flagship of the NCA is Ngorongoro Crater. The sixth largest unbroken caldera in the world, Ngorongoro has a depth of about 610 meters with a base of about 260 square kilometers -- making the original height of the volcano somewhere between 4,500 to 5,800 meters high.

More than 25,000 animals live in the crater including 26 black rhinos and healthy populations of elephants, buffalos, spotted hyenas, rare wild dogs, cheetahs and much more. More than 500 species of birds have been recorded in the NCA, including white pelican, and greater and lesser flamingoes.
