Q: | How hot is it? | |
A: | In March, the average daily temperature in Italy ranges from 8°C (46°F) to 16°C (61°F). However, there can be significant variations between the northern and southern parts of the country. Northern Italy tends to be cooler, with temperatures averaging between 5°C (41°F) to 13°C (55°F). Pack a light jacket or sweater.
Q: | Can I plug in my hair drier? Can I charge my camera and phone?
A: | If your hair dryer doesn't have the capability to switch between voltages, you will need to buy a voltage converter to use it in Europe or consider buying a new hair dryer to bring with you on your trip. However, most hotels have hair dryers. As for your cell phone, the primary power sockets are of Type F and Type L. Both these socket types have a voltage of 230V and a frequency of 50Hz. Therefore, for use in Italy, you will necessitate either a Type F or a Type L travel adapter.
Q: | Do they have WiFi? | |
A: | Free WIFI is available in our hotels
Q: | What kind of money do I need?
A: | Establishments in Italy do NOT accept US dollars. Italy converted to the Euro. It’s good to have about 100 Euros on hand, but Visa and Mastercard are accepted just about everywhere! American Express and Discover are not as welcome.
Q: | Do they take Credit Cards?
A: | Please see above “What kind of money do I need?”
Q: | Do I tip? | |
A: | Tipping isn't the norm in Italy like it may be in North America and some other countries in Europe, but it is still appreciated. Feel free to leave a small amount if the service has been particularly good. In taxis, tipping is not expected, but if rounding up the charge makes life easier, go for it.
Q: | Can I drink the water?
A: | The short answer is yes. Drinking water from the tap in Italy is considered safe. Tap water in the major cities and towns around Italy is safe for consumption, and there are thousands of old-style water fountains dotted around cities, like Rome, where you can fill up water bottles.
Q: | Will I be able to shop?
A: | Oh Yeah! |
